It’s not a game the Islanders will use to highlight how well they’ve played of late, but they left St. Louis with a win and two crucial points in the standings.
The win extended the Islanders winning streak to six games and was their ninth win in their last 10 games. The Islanders also leapfrogged the Montreal Canadiens for the first wild-card spot in the east.
Buoyed by three goals in the third period, the Islanders rallied from behind to defeat the Blues 4-3 on Saturday night. It was Anders Lee’s goal 15:04 of the third period that served as the game-winning tally.

Johnny Boychuk put the Islanders ahead 3-2 seconds later and Lee followed up later in the period.
Ryan O’Reilly scored in the final five minutes to cut the Islanders lead to just one.
Robin Lehner made 29 saves on 32 shots for the Islanders in their latest win. It was Lehner’s sixth consecutive victory in a game that he has started.
Lehner is now 11-6-3 this season for the Islanders.
Jake Allen made 10 saves for St. Louis in the loss.
The Blues had jumped to a 1-0 lead 4:11 into the game. Brayden Schenn cashed in on a rebound for his eighth goal of the season.
Zach Sanford scored at 16:37 of the opening period to put the Blues up by two. Matt Martin’s goal at 2:25 of the second period cut the Islanders deficit to one.
Eberle appeared in his first game after missing the previous four with an upper-body injury. Eberle was back on a line with Brock Nelson and Lee on Saturday night.
The Islanders return to Long Island on Tuesday to host the Carolina Hurricanes at Nassau Coliseum. The Isles will play six of their next nine games at home.
