Inside the Big East: Week 4

We delve deep into the Big East on this fine, fine Tuesday. The last Tuesday of the month. Seems like September has flown by. It’s crazy how time does that. Some days seem like they drag out for years, but you close your eyes, wake up and it’s been a month. My cousin told me a long time ago that life didn’t get fast until you got into high school. I hate her for telling me that and making life a speed train.

  1. South Florida 4-0. The Bulls are the only undefeated team standing in the league after a closer than expected win against UTEP. The Miners hung around until the 4th quarter, when the Bulls finally put them way. Up next: @ Pittsburgh Thursday night 8 pm
  2. West Virginia 3-1. The Mountaineers couldn’t quite hang with LSU on Saturday night. Every time they moved the ball, LSU forced a turnover it seemed. When WVU cut the lead to 6, gun to foot again, as they gave up a kick return TD that iced the game. Up next: Bowling Green Saturday 3:30
  3. Cincinnati 3-1. The Bearcats romped NC State. They head into a rivalry game this weekend. Up next: @ Miami Saturday 1 pm
  4. Syracuse 3-1. Syracuse and Toledo played and up and down, back and forth game that was partially decided on a missed extra point by Syracuse that was ruled good. Toledo had a chance to win though despite that, but they played it safe and settled for the tie. Settling is a bad thing, as they lost the toss, went on offense, threw a pick, and settled on watching Syracuse win. Up next: Rutgers Saturday 12
  5. Rutgers 2-1. The Scarlet Knights got up 21-7 on Ohio, and answered every call that the Bobcats made. Mohamed Sanu proved he’s the best WR in the Big East as well, with a record setting 16 catch performance. Up next: @ Syracuse Saturday 12
  6. Louisville 2-1. Bye. Up next: Marshall Saturday 3:30
  7. Connecticut 2-2. The Huskies beat the battling Chazz Anderson’s (18-39-193-1 INT) in a defensive struggle. That means the offenses were very bad. Up next: Western Michigan Saturday 3:30
  8. Pittsburgh 2-2. The Panthers once again blew a 4th quarter lead. Their pass defense is very bad, 5th worst in the country, and Tino Sunseri has been too inconsistent. The Panthers have a big swing game this week against USF. It’s either make a statement and beat the Bulls, or go under .500.
