When I was doing my typical perusal for sports news and scores, I made a stop at ESPN, as I often do. There was a new button on top of the headlines called the SCFeed. It opened this:
It’s a continuously updating feed of some sports news and headlines, but mostly ESPN content. Oh, it doesn’t have scores, and it doesn’t have every story that ESPN puts out there. For example, if you are a soccer fan, keep digging for those stories!
Basically, it’s a very regimented, watered down version of Twitter that pops up in an annoying window all to itself. It’s only for ESPN content, (emphasis on content, not news or scores). But really, who is just waiting for ESPN to update so they can listen to a clip from Mike and Mike? Who?! You know what another good source for ESPN content fed to you in a timely, continuously updated manner? FREAKING TWITTER.
Oh, it doesn’t have everything from ESPN. This is fine. I don’t need constant NBA updates (Jajuan Johnson is in the NBADL… my watching the NBA is over), but I do like sports news. I can follow individual writers and sports on Twitter. Additionally, I can follow other news outlets and friends if I want, so I can get a comprehensive look at the world, both in terms of news and my social life.
File this away as another stupid idea from ESPN that they will promote for months until we all realize we don’t want it.
