Momentarily, I didn’t think it was going to happen after some radio silence. The Jackets made it official today, Sam Gagner has signed with the team for one-year and 650,000 dollars. It is a great value and immediately adds a different dynamic to the team.
Different writers are weighing in and the reaction is almost unanimous.
Sorry, I'm supposed to be reading about Brock Nelson, but I'm just mind-boggled by that Gagner deal.

While 16 points this past year wasn’t very impressive, Gagner wasn’t given every chance to succeed, he will see a fair amount of playing time and teammates more suited to his playing style. Only below 40 points twice in his career, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him above that mark again. The Jackets are taking a chance on a low risk, high reward player. These are the types of moves I hope the Jackets continue to make moving forward.
