Baseball parks are filled with fans on both ends of the intelligence spectrum.
On one end, you've got the guy who sits by himself, feverishly watching every pitch, scoring the game. At the other end, is that lady in Kansas City who decided to get an up close look at the team's famed outfield fountains. Somewhere between the two, although I'm not even sure where, is this guy.
According to the Brooklyn Cyclones, a vandal defaced the Jackie Robinson statue that resides just outside of MCU Park in Coney Island.
A park employee discovered the graffiti (which included swastikas and racial slurs) Wednesday morning. Among the hate-filled messages…"Heil Hitler," "Die n—-r," "F–k n—-r" and "F–k Jackie Robinson". Suffice it to say, the Cyclones aren't very happy about it…nor should they be!
"It's an absolute tragedy that someone would deface it the way they did," said the team's director of communications told the New York Daily News. "The statue is a symbol of tolerance."
Stay classy, Coney Island.
