The Buffalo News is reporting that the Bills 2nd round pick Jarius Byrd will miss at least 2 weeks after having sports hernia surgery earlier this month. Byrd is still unsigned by the Bills and the coaching staff was hoping to convert the cornerback to a starting free safety. Byrd was second among draft picks last year with 17 career interceptions at Oregon. Trying to fit Byrd in the starting line-up would be a good move, considering the Bills had zero interceptions between starting safeties Donte Whitner and Byran Scott.
-In other camp news, it’s finally official Eric Wood has signed with the Bills giving the team only 2 more draft picks to sign (Byrd & Maybin).-
-Chris Brown of Bills.com is reporting that the Bills worked out former Patriots and Chargers receiver Reche Caldwell. The Bills are getting thin at wide receiver during training camp with 4 of their 10 receivers not participating in drills. Caldwell’s best season was in 2006 with the Patriots when he 61 catches and 4 td’s. Remember those days when the Patriots didn’t have wide outs? –
