When the last pick in the 2014 NBA Draft was announced, teams were still making phone calls and adding to their rosters. The Philadelphia 76ers, who had multiple picks tonight are doing what many teams are doing tonight, which is putting together their summer league roster.
One of the players, who will be on the Sixers’ summer league roster is JaKarr Sampson from St. John’s University. Sampson declared for the NBA Draft this past season as a sophomore. Sampson went undrafted and agreed to terms with the Sixers to play for their summer league team according to Zach Braziller on the New York Post.

This past season with St. John’s, Sampson averaged 12.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-9 forward was trying to help lead the Red Storm to a NCAA Tournament appearance but that didn’t happen instead they went to the NIT and loss in the first round to Robert Morris. Sampson is an up and down scorer as for a few games he would score 10-15 points and then have other games where he was nowhere to be found only scoring six points.
Consistency is something he is going to have to work on in the summer league with the Sixers but Philadelphia definitely sees something they can work with according to Sampson’s agent:
JaKarr Sampson’s agent got a call from Brett Brown & Sam Hinkie ‘both telling me they love JaKarr & want him on their summer league team.’

I’m definitely excited to see him play as always in the summer league, you can find a diamond in the rough.
