News and details surrounding Jake Allen’s injury have been difficult to uncover. The team officially labeled Allen’s injury as “undisclosed” which is even more vague than the traditionally broad lower-body or upper-body labels.
It looked like Allen injured his leg or knee on the play, which is a notion that Jeremy Rutherford has stated as well. Allen’s timeline is about as vague as his injury, but Rutherford believes it may be a couple weeks.
Bouwmeester (concussion protocol) is indefinite. Of the rest, probably Allen's knee. Could miss a couple of weeks. https://t.co/iWx28vCRIA

It wasn’t a surprise to see Brian Elliott in goal and Jordan Binnington called up from the AHL, but Rutherford’s Tweet indicates that Allen’s injury may be more serious than just a bump or a bruise. His “weeks” assessment also indicates that the injury probably isn’t as severe as a tear of some kind which many fans feared.
In other words, there are still a lot of unknowns but it looks like it will be the Elliott show for the foreseeable future.
