Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake Locker has called it a quits after just four years in the league. Locker, the former eighth overall selection in the 2011 NFL Draft, finished with 4,967 yards passing, 27 touchdowns, 22 interceptions and a QBR of 79.0.
Locker was selected out the University of Washington by the Titans and played his whole career there. A three-time All Pac-10 honorable mention, Locker was highly regarded coming out of college. He was a supreme athlete, who turned down money from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim after they selected him in the 40th round of the 2006 MLB Draft.
A statement obtained by NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, from Jake Locker reads; “I’m retiring from football after much reflection and discussion with my family. I will always be grateful for having had the opportunity to realize my childhood dream of playing in the NFL and for the lifelong relationships I developed because of that experience.”
The Titans are now left with Zach Mettenberger as their best option at quarterback. Rumors will continue to circle the team entering the NFL draft, as to whether or not the team will take Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota with the second overall selection.
