While on paper, one would see the name LeBron James under the list of 2015 free-agents and call him the hottest on the market, there was no doubt that the former MVP had no plans of leaving Cleveland.
According to ESPN, James will sign a two-year deal worth the max $49.6M. Like their previous deal, this one includes a player option for the second year, meaning we could possibly see this cycle once again at the conclusion of the 2015-16 season.
Prior to the June 30th deadline, James chose to opt-out of the final year of his previous two-year deal with the Cavs. His strategy was to ensure key players were signed (or re-signed) before signing a deal of his own.
Key signings for the Cavs off-season include the return of Kevin Love, and Iman Shumpert. Speaking of returns, the Cavs have also agreed to bring back Mo Williams who last played for the team in 2011.
While some pieces have been put into place, decisions on players such as Tristan Thompson, Matthew Dellavedaova, and J.R. Smith have yet to be made. As the Cavs look to avenge their finals loss, look for many more off-season moves to come.
