The Golden State Warriors announced today that the team has chosen to sign forward James Michael McAdoo for the remainder of the season.
McAdoo, 22, has been a huge part of the organization since being left undrafted this past offseason. He started as just a part of their Summer League squad, later earning himself a spot on their preseason roster before being sent down the their NBA D-League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors.
In 26 games for Santa Cruz, McAdoo has averaged 19.3 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.1 steals and 2.3 blocks on 57.8 percent shooting. He was considered one of the top prospects in the D-League before Golden State chose to pick him up for the rest of the year. An athletic 6’9 forward, McAdoo gives the Warriors more depth in their frountcourt.
Santa Cruz Warriors head coach, Casey Hill, texted LetsGoWarriors following the team’s announcement.
“To be honest, I think this journey that James Michael has taken has been extremely beneficial to him, his game, and his outlook on being a professional basketball player,” Hill said.
“His attitude about the D-League has been tremendous this entire time and he has worked really hard. Seeing him improve and experience the level of success that he has so far has been really gratifying for all of us in Santa Cruz.”
McAdoo previously completed two 10-day contracts with Golden State, playing in four NBA games this season.
He currently averages 3.5 points and 1.3 rebounds on 71.4 percent shooting for Golden State.
Truly blessed and thankful to God to be where I am today. Would not be here if it weren't for my faith and relationship with Jesus.
