Jarrett Jack Makes It Clear Where He Wants To Play

Jarrett Jack is one of the best 6th men in the entire league. He provides veteran leadership and a steadying hand off of the bench, as well as a solid repertoire of offensive moves. He sometimes frustrates fans by taking the ball out of Stephen Curry’s hands and making rash decisions during the game, but his impact on this team and the season is undeniable. The fact that Jack is a Free Agent at the end of this season is very well known by both the team and its fans. It’s something that they’ll tackle once the post-season concludes for them but Jack has already indicated what he’d like to see happen come July, as reported by Scott Howard-Cooper over at the Hang Time blog:

Hopefully, I can stay right here. I told my agent. I’m sure he spoke to the powers that be that I have desires to stay right here and help this franchise grow to the best of its ability.”

Jack is a versatile utility of the bench. He can play the PG if Curry’s off the floor (or on, something Mark Jackson has shown an affinity for) or can play the SG if Klay Thompson moves over to the SF. This 3 Guard lineup is a personal favorite of Jackson’s, playing 204 minutes together during the regular season. It’s quite a luxury to have someone like Jack who can be thrown into the starting lineup after an injury, such as the one the Warriors have recently suffered with David Lee’s hip flexor. The greatest thing that Jack brings to this team is his contribution to team chemistry. In fact, it’s probably one of the biggest things about this team, something Jack is very aware of:

I try to make it a perfect marriage. The economics, that’s going to take precedent at times, but you also want to be happy. That’s the most fulfilling thing I have playing on this team.”

Another training camp, a healthy Bogut all season, more pieces added through Free Agency: Jarrett Jack could find himself playing back up PG on one of the teams in the league that has a VERY bright future.
