It’s a story as old as the game of baseball itself.
Man wins World Series ring. Leaves team and inks a huge contract. Spends a year in new city. Takes time off for birth of child.
Returns…and promptly gets cut.
Wait. What?
Roster Move: Jarrod Saltalamacchia reinstated from paternity list and designated for assignment.
— Miami Marlins (@Marlins) April 27, 2015
Monday, the Miami Marlins ended their relationship with Jarrod Saltalamacchia on the same day it was announced he was returning following the birth of his latest child. Yikes.
According to reports, Saltalamacchia, the owner of baseball’s longest last name (and one of the Majors best/worst head of hair), will likely be outright released or traded by the Marlins, who will probably end up being on the hook for the remainder of his contract.
Either way, something tells me being shown the door wasn’t on Saltalamacchia’s baby registry.
