Javon Walker and Greg Ellis were both waived by the Oakland Raiders today according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Javon Walker was the poster boy for the Raiders disastrous 2008 offseason. After signing a massive contract, Walker has been so disappointing that the NFL Network recently called him the biggest free agent bust. He was a healthy scratch for 13 of the Raiders sixteen games, and did not catch a single pass. That was only a slight step down from 2008 where he played in 8 games and had only 15 catches.
Greg Ellis was likely cut for health reasons. He struggled with his knees for the latter part of 2009. He tied for the team lead in sacks with seven. He also was a vocal leader. At one point, he even led an offensive huddle. His presence led to the Raiders registering their best sack total since 2002.
