Chappell gives a quick injury update for Saturday’s game.
Guard Ryan Lilja is out but cornerback Marlin Jackson likely will see his first action of the preseason Saturday when the Indianapolis Colts meet the Lions in Detroit’s Ford Field.
Lilja will miss the game with a bruised shoulder. Jackson has been kept out of the first two preseason games while completing his comeback from knee surgery.
Coach Jim Caldwell doesn’t anticipate Lilja missing much time. Jamey Richard will fill Lilja’s vacancy at left guard.
Getting Jackson back is excellent news considering that Hayden may miss the first week with a hamstring pull. We need at least one credible corner.
