After seeing his Iron Man steak end at 737 games, Jay Bouwmeester is about to miss his third consecutive game when the Blues host the Oilers on Black Friday. Bouwmeester has been sidelined due to the always vague lower-body injury, but is reportedly closing in on a return.
Here are the details from Jeremy Rutherford:
Hitch said that he did skate today for the second straight day. There was some talk earlier in the week that he could play tonight. But the Blues have decided against it, giving him a few more days of rest and a chance to practice with the club Monday and Tuesday before they play a big stretch of games on the road next week against Chicago, Nashville and the Islanders. I think since the streak is no longer, they just want to be safe with him.
The news sounds pretty positive. It’s safe to assume that if the Black Friday game against Edmonton had playoff implications, Bouwmeester would probably be able to suit up. For now, the team is giving him a couple more days of rest to ensure he’s at 100% before resuming his role on the St. Louis defense.
