The 2014-15 season wasn’t a great one for Jay Bouwmeester. It wasn’t horrible, but Bouwmeester didn’t look like the elite defenseman the Blues were expecting to see. A lingering groin injury hindered Bouwmeester and noticeably took a toll on his usual strong skating. The summer offered an opportunity for the 31-year-old to rest up and hopefully move past the injury which limited him to an average performance last year.
It’s still early and training is just beginning, but Bouwmeester looks to be past the injury.
Very good. Both can skate well. Looked like Bouwmeester was skating pre-groin injury, which is good for his game. https://t.co/hCeqRI70cS

Bouwmeester pre-groin injury was one of the best skating defenseman in the NHL. His strides looked effortless and the amount of ice he can cover makes up for other questionable aspects of his defense.
Offensively, he only managed two goals and 11 assists last season. The Blues picked up plenty of offensive help from Kevin Shattenkirk and Alex Pietrangelo, but Bouwmeester’s stats took a tumble compared to his 37 points from 2013-14.
If the early reports are an indication of what’s to come, Bouwmeester may be in line for a solid bounceback season.
