Wednesday saw one of the greatest events in sports: an overtime of an NHL Playoff Game. And then there was a second and a third overtime. If the rest of the series goes this well, NBC and the country will be very happy with it. Fans of Boston and Chicago may be in the hospital thanks to elevated blood pressure, but the rest of us will be quite pleased. The ratings were the highest in nearly 20 years, and viewers were treated to excellent hockey.
Well, not everyone is happy, as it turns out. Even though he wears the Canadian tuxedo, there isn’t much overlap between Jay Leno and hockey fans. How strange. As for the whole Jimmy Fallon bit of all this, we all pretty much knew that there wasn’t much that tied Fallon to the NHL.
I can’t imagine what would have happened if hockey bled into Carson Daly’s time slot.
