We all know that when there is JD Drew news…that is news that I pay attention to. I always joke that I am a card carrying member of the Drew Crew…and maybe this off season, I’ll spend some of my actually making a Drew Crew Card. If I do…who wants one??? Huh???
The JD Drew news this week…is about the shoulder surgery JD had last Thursday. What? Shoulder surgery? Fragile JD needed shoulder surgery??? JD had a few cortisone injections in his shoulder throughout last season, but nothing that was reported as anything serious, just a nagging injury. Looks like after the season…that it continued to bother JD, he had it checked out and found out there bone spur in that left shoulder. JD had the surgery and all reports…it went very well. He should be ready for spring training and have no lasting effects.
I do have to say…as someone who gets talked about as being fragile and soft and unwilling to play through injuries…can JD get a little bit of credit for playing through injury and pain…and waiting to get his surgery until the off season. A little JD appreciation from the usually hating Red Sox Nation?? Anything????
Oh…one last tidbit. The most hilarious, typical JD Drew statement in the whole article is something I posted on twitter when I read the article. Check it out:
“When you’re doing baseball every day I think your body is loosened up and more accepting to those motions you do. But when you come home for the offseason and everything starts healing up that’s when a lot of time you start noticing scar tissue build-up in that area and that’s when I was like, ‘Golly man, this is not not normal’.
JD. You had me at golly. You had me at golly.
All in all…JD had a pretty healthy 2009 and with him taking care of this shoulder in the off season, I am crossing my fingers that he has another healthy 2010. Good lord knows…we need it.
P.S. Here is a pic of JD Drew and his adorable booty. Why? Because I can.
