“I’ve just got to do it,” Green said before the team’s morning shootaround at Madison Square Garden. “I’ve just go to play through the fatigue. I’ve got to continue to look for mine, basically. There’s no excuses now. I want to be out there, I want to compete. I want to play against the best, I want to guard Carmelo, I want to do it all. It’s just something I’ve just got to get through.”
I was having a discussion last night about Jeff Green and the consensus was that he’s got all the physical tools to be great… and once he get his mind right, he might be able to tie it all together and become the very special player Kevin Garnett think he could be.
We’re all looking for signs that Green can develop that aggressive, confident mentality to walk on the court, look at those who dare stand before him, and declare “you guys are all fucked tonight.” Maybe this is one step closer to that.
For the Celtics’ sake, let’s hope so. He can be THE matchup problem in this series. He can use this series to become “the guy.” I’d love to see it. I’d love to see it start tonight.
