Jered Weaver Finishes 2013 strong; Angels Defeat the A’s, 3-1

Jered Weaver closed his trying 2013 campaign on Wednesday afternoon, shutting down the Oakland Athletics (as usual) with seven innings of one-run ball. With a weary Mike Trout getting the day off, Josh Hamilton and Erick Aybar provided just enough offense to squeeze past the A's, who are gearing up for their postseason run. The only thing the Angels have to play for, here on out, is to possibly be a spoiler of playoff dreams for the Rangers. To knock their bitter rivals out of the playoff picture would probably be a nice silver-lining way to end this rough campaign.

Angels 3, Athletics 1

Game Note

— Mike Trout sitting out the final home game of 2013 would be much more glaring an omission if… well… fans showed up to the ball game. Official box scores claim 36,226 souls at the last Angel Stadium game of the year, but an eye-ball test made it appear like a third of that amount were present. Oh well.
