Final Bucs 2010 Lookback- Jeremy Zuttah

Were in the ‘z’s, doing Jeremy Zuttah, and you’ve probably figured out anyways that this is the last 2010 Bucs Lookback feature. This is what the FBI refers to as a clue. For some of you, the feeling is ‘finally, this segment was horrible’, and for others, you’ve enjoyed the fact that we’ve gone over every player from the Bucs 2010 roster, showed you either a video or audio clip of them (kind of hard to find video clips of offensive linemen; they don’t even have stats), and talked a bit about where they came from and where they are going. Feel free to go back into the archives and look up the ones you’ve missed.

Jeremy Zuttah had a roller coaster 2010 season, that started out with great disappointment, but ended with the obvious preview of our next Center for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. When the Bucs brought in Keydrick Vincent, Zuttah had competition for his left guard spot that he took over in the absence of Aaron Sears. But as a rookie, he did well in 2009, but not well enough for the team to be fully satisfied; so they brought in competition.

Vincent won the role, but did not produce as expected. Normally Zuttah would have gone back in, but Jeff Faine went down with injury, and Zuttah had the most experience at the Center position. Unlike in previous years when our Center went down and we went with inferior talent like Sean Mahan or John Wade, Zuttah actually excelled at the position. It helped that Josh Freeman was a study of the game and offense, and was able to take over the line calls himself.

Faine is probably the guy at Center for awhile still, but the Job belongs to Zuttah one day in the future, its just a matter of time.

Here is audio of former Bucs TE Dave Moore on the Bucs radio network interviewing Zuttah on Total Access. This audio is courtesy of 620 WDAE and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and is their podcast available on iTunes.
