Jerrell Wright to workout for Sixers

.

With the NBA Draft Lottery happening last week, teams across the NBA are bringing in draft prospects for workouts everyday to see if they are the right fit for their organizations.

In terms of the Philadelphia 76ers, they have already worked out 20 plus players and will be working out a local player tomorrow. La Salle Explorers forward Jerrell Wright will be working out for the Sixers as he will be looking to impress the coaches to possibly get a chance to make the roster.

Wright, the 6-foot-8, 245 lbs., big man from Dobbins Tech in Philadelphia had a productive career at La Salle. Over his four-year career, he averaged 11.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Wright is an interesting prospect as he isn’t big enough to be a prototypical power forward but his size will cause matchup problems as an undersized four.

Wright’s sophomore season was his coming out party as that was the same year La Salle made it all the way to the Sweet 16. In the NCAA tournament, he made clutch free throws against Kansas State to help send the Explorers to the Round of 32 against the Ole Miss Rebels. That season, he averaged 10.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, and a block in 24 minutes per game.

In 2014-15 as a senior, Wright had a solid season averaging 12.1 points and 6.5 rebounds in 27.9 minutes per game, which was a career high for him.

If Wright performs well for the Sixers and other teams during the pre-draft workouts, he will be on someone’s summer league roster.
