Jets should forget about Ryan Fitzpatrick

At some point, the NY Jets are going to have to call Ryan Fitzpatrick’s bluff.

Despite setting career highs in yards passing and touchdowns, Fitzpatrick has been the very definition of a journeyman quarterback, playing for six different teams since entering the league in 2005.

With a monster 2015 season, Fitzpatrick was/is looking to cash in big time, reportedly looking for around $15 million, which would put him among the best QBs in the league.

Simple fact is, Fitz isn’t worth all that money, don’t get it wrong, he’s a solid quarterback, but not at $15 million a year.

The Jets already have a second round investment in Geno Smith, a fourth round investment in Bryce Petty, and used their 2nd round pick in 2016 on Christian Hackenberg.

There will have to come a time when the Jets will have to figure out if any of these draft picks were ever worth it, and now is the best chance to find that out.  Forget Fitzpatrick, call his bluff, and move on.

Given the weapons the Jets have already put together, any QB should be able to have some success in this offense, so why wait? The time is now. Forget Fitz, let the future begin in New York for the Jets.
