According to Tigers beat writer Jason Beck, Johnny Damon will turn down the Sox (red) to remain a Tiger. Of course the phrase “I’m not going” is not completely specific, so I will hesitate in hanging up my mission accomplished banner until further confirmation is given. Regardless of your feelings about John Damon’s performance (almost all #’s are lower then prior years), it’s nice to see someone that actually wants to to be in Detroit. In free agency, Detroit is seldom the “sexy” option. Detroit is more often than not seen as the zubaz wearing uncle who hasn’t been introduced to a shower yet option. So, for the unbathed in Detroit, this is a nice victory.
Damon had made it known that he wanted to remain a Tiger in 2011 even if he was claimed and spent the rest of the 2010 season somewhere else. 37 games in the season remain, and they are 10 back. Hopefully the Twins can get pick up the Measles or something like that team in Mighty Ducks 1 did.
