Red Sox principal owner John Henry showed up at 98.5 unannounced to address some issues and was in the booth for well over an hour. Henry was most upset that the media and everyone assumed that the information in the Globe article that smeared Tito and talked about his personal life got that information from the Sox owners. Henry categorically denied that. Henry said over and over again that he felt that the public was being misled.
Henry answered almost all the questions that were asked of him. Probably the most shocking thing he said was that he wasn’t in support of Carl Crawford being signed. Given that Carl has 6 more years left on his deal, I am not sure what good Henry saying that did.
Click here to hear the full interview. I give Henry credit for showing up and talking. He also said more than I expected him to. However, at the same time I disappointed that Henry seems more upset that people think ownership shared the gossip and drivel about Tito’s personal life and not just that it was shared at all.
