If you’re like me (and Lord help you if you are), a fan of both baseball and “Survivor”…you’ve been waiting for this day for two months.
That’s right, gang, Wednesday night marked John Rocker’s debut on the hit CBS show. The former big league closer and homophobe (he’d prefer you NOT call him a “bigot”) had been heavily promoted by the network since the cast list went public and, so, how did he do?
Well…actually. He did alright.
Early on, Keith, a fire captain from Louisiana, revealed to the camera that he recognized Rocker. Dude called him an “ass”, but, still…he knew the big lefty once played for the Atlanta Braves. Also recognizing him was Keith’s son and Rocker’s fellow Coyopa tribe member Wes.
“Wes busted me,” Rocker later revealed in a testimonial.
Sure, Wes wasn’t sure WHO he was (Rocker told him his last name was “Wetteland”…smooth), but, still, he knew he knew him from somewhere. And who knows…that might work in the 23-year-old’s favor moving forward.
But outside of those shenanigans, Rocker was all business, kept a low profile and, even though his tribe lost their first immunity challenge, established himself as a challenge beast. Now, it remains to be seen if the trend continues, but, dare I say…so far, so good?
