And just like that…Johnny Damon is done.
I’m not going to lie, when it was first rumored that the two-time World Series champ was going to be appearing on “The Celebrity Apprentice”…I got excited. And even though the oracle told us otherwise, we still had to be hopeful, right?
I mean, this is Johnny Damon we’re talking about.
Well, Monday night, during a boardroom bloodbath, Damon was relieved of his duties (along with his other two teammates) after failing to come up with a suitable jingle for Anheuser-Busch’s Bud Light Lime Lime-a- Rita drinks. Seriously. You can’t make this stuff up.
He had a good run though…finishing in the top six in the latest installment of the Donald Trump-fronted reality (game?) show and even raising for money for his charity.
After the episode aired, he hit the Twitters to sound off about his experience on the show.
I'm not a person to throw someone under the bus. I got this far because I know how to work well with others and win. #CelebApprentice

1) I did my best, put my head down & worked hard. I learned a lot & it was tougher than I thought it would be. What a great experience!

2) Thanks to my teams and to @realDonaldTrump for the wonderful opportunity. #CelebApprentice @ApprenticeNBC

Now, say what you want about Damon and his stint vying for Trump’s attention, the lifetime .284 hitter did far better than his fellow former New York Yankees outfielders-turned-wannabe apprentices Darryl Strawberry and Jose Canseco.
Strawberry was fired during the third episode of the 2010 season after telling Trump he wanted to quit. Canseco fared a little better, however. Kinda. The embattled slugger left the show in 2011 after just five episodes.
