The last time that Jon Lester faced the Mariners….he struck out 13 batters and had a no no going for a while, unfortunately he and the Red Sox also lost that game. It had to be one of the most frustrating losses of his career….having pitched with some of his best stuff.
Last night, Lester once again had some of his best stuff. He pitched 8 innings, 12 Ks…you heard me, TWELVE. He was dominant. All of his stuff was working. He allowed one run over 8 innings. He was in control and there was basically nothing the Mariners could do against him. Lester also got some nice run support. Our youngins got it done early with with 3 runs in the 2nd inning…Josh Reddick RBI, Daniel Nava RBI, Lars Anderson RBI. That would be all Lester would need, but Ryan Kalish got in on the fun in 8th with a 2 run homerun. Daniel Bard came in and took care of the 9th. Game Over. Water Dirty.
