Jose Bautista Blasts Two Homers in Sox Loss

The Sox came in winning the first two games and if they won last night they would have taken the series from the Blue Jays.  Felix Doubront pitched well for the Sox, but he got no run support and the Sox pitching suffered the fate of having to face Jose Bautista.

Doubront took the mound and while he gave up a single run in the top of the 1st, he looked pretty good.  Dubi gave up the run when he gave up an RBI single to Lind.  Sox 0-1.  In the 2nd, Doubront had a runner at 3rd with no outs and impressively got the next 3 outs without allowing the speedy Davis to score.  Doubront didn't give up another run until the 6th inning when he gave up a solo HR to the one known as Jose Bautista.  Doubront started the 7th inning and gave up a walk and got an out before he was pulled and Alex Wilson was in the game.  Doubront's pitching line for the night was 103 pitches, 5 H, 2 R, 3 BB and 6 Ks.   Not too shabby.

Wilson got the outs to get out of the inning and then in the 7th the Sox bats finally scored enough runs to at least let Dubi off the hook for the loss.  The Sox had been out hitting the Jays all night, but had nothing to show for it on the scoreboard.  In the 7th Victorino hit a 2 run RBI single to score Iggy and Diaz.  Game tied at 2-2.  Tazawa took over in the 8th and he fell victim to Jose Bautista as well.  Tazawa gave up a single to Reyes and then a 2 run bomb to Joey Bats.  Sox 2-4.  Breslow took the mound in the 9th and gave up 2 runs of his own.  Reyes hit an RBI single and then Reyes got home when Bautista was at the plate due to an error by Diaz.  Sox 2-6.  The Sox bats woudln't be able to rally in the 9th and lost for the first time in this series.

Red Sox 2  Blue Jays 6  BOXSCORE

WP:  Delabar (5-1)  LP: Tazawa (4-3)
