It was a bright and beautiful Sunday, so I decided to spend the day over at McCoy Stadium watching some guy named Josh Beckett pitching on the mound. Red Sox fans haven’t seen Josh pitching on a mound since mid May…so when I heard his rehab would be on Sunday, I jumped at the opportunity to go. I got to McCoy super duper early…and was waiting at the gate when they opened at 11am.
So how did Josh do?
All in all…pretty gosh darn good. His line was 4 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 4 K, 0 BB, 68 pitches. Josh gave up 2 hits…a single and a solo home run. He definitely looked confident up there on the mound. I would have liked him to throw more pitches for strikes, but all in all…in his first stint back on a mound, he looked great. He seemed to really be commanding his fastball….even if he was having trouble getting his curveball over for strikes.
The word is that Beckett will probably make 2 more rehab starts and then should return to the Sox rotation. Cannot wait. We need our ace back…and for him to pitch like one.
If you want to see more of the pictures that I took from the game, head on over to my twitpic page where a buncgh of them are uploaded. There are not only pictures of Beckett, but also Michael Bowden, Lars Anderson, Josh Reddick, Mark Wagner and Ryan Kalish. Check them out!
