Not that there was ever any doubt that Josh Beckett would be the opening day starter, but Tito has yet to make it official. He did however let the cat out of the bag when talking to reporters this morning:
Asked if the Sox will bring many of their regulars to Washington for next Saturday’s exhibition against the Nationals, he said, “Everybody will go with us. I think even Beckett.”
Beckett has pitched well this spring and choosing him to start the season against the Yankees is an easy decision for Francona.
