For the Georgia Bulldogs, spring football is about finding answers on defense. Jarvis Jones, Alec Ogletree, John Jenkins, Bacarri Rambo, Shawn Williams, Cornelius Washington, Sanders Commings and more are gone. The keys to the car are being turned over to Garrison Smith, Jordan Jenkins, Amarlo Herrera, Damian Swann, Ray Drew and the young Dawgs. Despite losing all of the "big names" on defense, the Georgia defense was a bit of a disappointment in 2012 and statistically ranked as the sixth best defense in the SEC. NFL Draft scouts say they should have been much better.
When you look around the 2013 Georgia defense the biggest question-mark has to be at safety as the Dawgs lose two seniors. One who had the knack for the big play (Bacarri Rambo) and one who provided the Dawgs with leadership when it was needed (Shawn Williams). It's key for Georgia to have some young talent step up in the secondary. It's just spring and we won't know how these young players will react when the lights are shining on them in the fall but so far it looks like Georgia might have found a tandem for the future in sophomore Josh Harvey-Clemons and true freshman (early enrollee) Tray Matthews.
