Class of 2012 athlete J.P. Holtz of Shaler Area HS in Pittsburgh, PA became the 12th commit to the Penn State recruiting class as reported by Lions 247. Holtz chose Penn State over Cincinnati, Michigan State, West Virginia, and near by Pittsburgh.

Despite being rated as a 3-star and the #24 TE by Scout.com, it is being reported on Cory James‘ twitter that the 6’4″ and 235 pound Holtz will be playing fullback at Penn State. During Holtz junior year of high school, he played running back for Shaler and rushed for 14 touchdowns during the season. Holtz also has experience as a defensive end and linebacker.

Holtz joins Mornhinweg and James as the third offensive skill position player in the 2012 recruiting class for Penn State.
