Because he's not Chris Wallace
The fourth-year point guard reached an agreement with the Grizzlies on a five-year contract extension guaranteed at $40 million, according to sources with knowledge of the negotiations.
Conley’s deal could be worth more if he meets certain incentives. The agreement was reached just before an 11 p.m. CDT deadline Monday.
Mike Conley is going to average $8 million a year. Rajon Rondo is going to make $11 million next year.
So Rajon Rondo's contract looks better and better…. meanwhile our former buddy Chris Wallace just doled out about $120 million for Rudy Gay and Mike Conley.
If you want to amuse yourself for a few minutes… check out Matt Moore's twitter rant after the signing was announced. That wraps things up quite nicely from a Grizz fan's perspective.
Thanks Danny, for not horribly sucking at your job. Thanks for making smart deals. Thanks for not being one of maybe two or three reasons why the owners forcing a lockout just to save themselves from themselves and their GM's.
We should probably toss in a thanks to Wyc and the team for letting Danny do his thing. Just thanks to all of you… for not being Memphis.
