Justin Jackson: American of the Week

Justin Jackson has been applauded by the American conference for his great play this week, earning the designation of American Player of the Week. Jackson put up 16-12-4 blocks-4 steals against Middle Tennessee State and 12-9-2 blocks against Pittsburgh. It's the first time he's ever been honored. Congratulations to Justin Jackson.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league's weekly men's basketball honors for the week-ending Dec. 23.
 
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Justin Jackson • Sr. • F • Cincinnati
Jackson averaged a double-double to help Cincinnati to a 2-0 week as the Bearcats defeated Pittsburgh (44-43) and Middle Tennessee (69-48). He averaged 14.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 2.5 steals in the two wins and shot 81.3 percent from the field (13-of-16). Jackson scored a game-high 12 points with nine rebounds and three assists against the previously unbeaten Panthers in the Jimmy V Classic and had 16 points with 12 rebounds, four blocks and four steals in the win against the Blue Raiders. Jackson is averaging 10.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks for the Bearcats this season.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Chris Perry • Fr. • F • USF
Perry averaged 9.0 points and 8.7 rebounds to help USF to two wins in three games last week. He scored 10 points with nine rebounds in a 68-66 double-overtime win against Florida Gulf Coast and had 14 points with nine boards in a 71-66 loss to Mississippi State.
