Right now, it’s Justin Verlander’s world and he’s just letting the rest of us use it for a while. Verlander had a light evening in tonight’s 6-0 win over the Diamondbacks, only throwing 8 innings of 5-hit baseball with 14 strikeouts and one walk. Over his last six starts, he’s 6-0 with a 0.72 ERA, 51 strikeouts and 6 walks. I’d say that those are video game numbers, but even video games are too hard nowadays to do that sort of thing.
In other news, Alex Avila hit a 3-run homer in the 4th inning, giving fans yet another reason to vote for him to start in the All-Star game. Also, the Cleveland Indians lost, meaning the Tigers are once again tied for first place in the AL Central.
