Kansas State and Oregon Fall, National Title Game Wide Open

We came into this week of college football with three undefeated teams sitting at the top of the BCS rankings. It started to unravel when the seven o'clock games started. Kansas State traveled to Baylor and the Bears just seemed to have their number as they never trailed and pulled away in the third quarter. After the Bears put away the Wildcats, all the eyes turned to the Oregon/Stanford game.

Oregon came into the game as an offensive juggernaut but the Cardinal defense clamped down and held the Ducks to just 14 points. Despite holding the Ducks to their season low, the Cardinal shot themselves in the foot with three turnovers and needed a controversial replay reversal on a Zach Ertz TD reception with 1:35 left to tie up the score and send the game into overtime. In OT, Oregon couldn't get it's offense going and settled for a FG attempt which they missed. Stanford nearly lost a fumble on their OT possession but recovered and hit the game winning FG to shock the college football world.

Just when it looked like the SEC would be on the outside looking in at the BCS National Championship Game, crazy things happened. Both Kansas State and Oregon fell and now the SEC Championship Game is basically a play-in game to see who will face off with Notre Dame (if they can beat USC) for the National Championship. Alabama still has to get past Auburn and Georgia still has to get past Georgia Tech but all signs point to the match-up in Atlanta being a National Semi-Final.
