Karl: ‘So much of our bad defense comes from our bad offense’

The Sacramento Kings came back from the All-Star break and had a very solid first quarter against the Denver Nuggets. George Karl decided to insert Quincy Acy in the starting lineup over Willie Cauley-Stein and it seemed to work. The Kings’ energy from the start was very good.

Acy was very solid on Kenneth Faried and his energy was contagious. His teammates showed the defensive effort many observers of this team have been waiting to see.

The Kings still allowed too many points but the effort defensively was clearly better. Ben McLemore set the tone early by fighting through screens and picking up from full-court. That was a great sight to see from the young shooting guard who was rumored to be moved before the deadline.

Rajon Rondo and Darren Collison fed off his energy and also had solid defensive performances. Karl spoke about that and much more in today’s practice.
