The speculation is running rampant ahead the June 28 draft. You know by now the Celtics hold picks 21 and 22, and we can add ESPN’s Andy Katz to the growing list of voices that don’t expect the Celtics to make those picks.
I’ll be surprised if Boston keeps both 21 and 22, but the Celtics need to make sure there is a palatable trade. This is a huge summer for Boston’s two 2011 draft picks, Purdue’s E’Twaun Moore and JaJuan Johnson, who didn’t get a chance to play much as rookies.
That link also includes some stuff about the guys who worked out for Boston today: Vanderbilt’s John Jenkins, Kentucky’s Doron Lamb and Florida’s Erving Walker. Lamb and Jenkins are at best late first rounders but more likely second round guys. Walker might not be drafted at all.
I’m not sure exactly what Danny is thinking, but I do know he gets an itch right around this time of year. He’s got a couple of draft picks and a couple of trade assets on the team. He could get ambitious and just blow this team to high-heaven with a series of sweeping moves. He could just as easily move up a few different spots or just into a different draft.
Good luck guessing what Danny’s got cooking right now. I’m not sure Danny has a definite path he’d like to take yet.
