In June, the San Antonio Spurs won the NBA Finals defeating the Miami Heat in five games. Then the offseason began with the Spurs pretty much re-signing their entire roster including Patty Mills and Boris Diaw. Also Tim Duncan announced that he is coming back for one more season. The one player I forgot to mention is Kawhi Leonard, the now 23-year-old could be in line for a huge pay day.
Leonard, who had a tremendous NBA Finals and won the Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP trophy, could be signing an extension before the season starts according to Maximum Sports FOX 29 in San Antonio. This was told to Maximum Sports by a league source.
To add on to this, Leonard could possibly sign the max five-year extension as noted by Quixem Ramirez.
Kawhi’s (projected) max five-year extension: Year 1: $16.63 million Year 2: $17.87M Year 3: $19.12M Year 4: $20.37M Year 5: $21.61M

If you add up those numbers you get a five-year deal worth $95.6 million. That should not surprise you because the young man deserves that kind of contract if he gets it as there is no deal in place right now.
I’m pretty sure the Spurs will lock him before the new season starts as he has one year left on his rookie contract.
