Keith Bogans – an integral part of the trade that shipped Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to Brooklyn – is unhappy with his playing time here in Boston.
Bogans has logged a whopping 28 minutes in 4 games this season. He’s contributed 0 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal.
He vented to Hoopsworld’s Jess Camerato:
“I had no idea that I would be in this position,” Bogans said. “[My expectations were] that I would play.”
“[I miss] everything,” Bogans said. “Everything. Imagine 11 years and just this. … It would not matter [how many minutes] as long as I was on the court playing. It wouldn’t matter. I’ve got more DNPs [this season] than I have in 10 years.”
It’s hard to feel sorry for Bogans because the man is making $5 million this season. His salary was inflated so the trade would fit the parameters of the CBA.
Bogans is making more money this year than in the previous 4 years combined. Until he hit the lottery with Boston, his highest annual salary was $2.5 million (08-09 with Milwaukee).
“Money is good, but if you’re not happy doing what you love to do… I want to play basketball,” Bogans said. In response to whether or not he is happy, Bogans continued, “The fact that I’m not playing, no. But put people in my position and see what would happen. It’s easier said than done. So anybody can say yeah I’m happy, I’m getting money, but come on now.”
“It is what it is,” Bogans said. “I’ve never been the guy who goes up and starts to complain. That’s not my personality.”
Never been the guy to complain? This entire story is one big complaint.
There isn’t much hope for Bogans. Rajon Rondo’s eventual return will only push him further down the depth chart.
Maybe Danny Ainge can work Bogans and his expiring contract into a deal. Until then, he needs to sit tight and count his money.
