The Philadelphia Eagles found an unexpected answer at quarterback in Nick Foles and with an offseason as the guy heading into training camp; Foles is expected to make a significant leap this upcoming season. But with the impending free-agent departure of 6-year player Jeremy Maclin, Head coach Chip Kelly may be looking for some help outside.
Enter Kelvin Benjamin. A 6’5 235 pound monster out of Florida State, Benjamin is built to be a number one receiver in the NFL. The biggest knock on Benjamin is his lack of polish when compared to fellow prospect Sammy Watkins from Clemson. His route running needs refining and he must work on eye discipline as he occasionally suffers from drops.
These weaknesses remove Benjamin from a top-10 consideration, but at pick 22 he could be a major win for the eagles, providing them not only a body to draw attention from Desean Jackson, but with his tight-end-size , provides Foles a reliable target in critical situations.
Scouting Report: Kelvin Benjamin
At 23 years old, Benjamin is an excellent physical specimen to develop and with the right coaching and system, should be able to make a large impact in the NFL if given a chance.
