The Big East announced it’s weekly men’s basketball awards and while no members of the UConn Huskies were named Player of the Week, one player was honored.
Kemba Walker was named to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll for his performance in helping UConn go 2-0 last week. Walker averaged 27 points, nine rebounds and six assists in the wins over New Hampshire and UMBC.
In the 62-55 win over New Hampshire, Walker had 30 points, five rebounds, two assists and three steals in 39 minutes of action. In the 94-61 drubbing of UMBC, Walker had his first career triple-double and just the eighth in UConn history. He had 24 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists with a steal.
Walker and the No. 6/6 Huskies are back in action on Wednesday night when they’ll host the Farleigh Dickinson Knights at Gampel Pavilion. Tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be televised locally in CT on SNY.
