The Blues had opportunities to close out the series against the Blackhawks with a win in Game 5 at home or a win on the road in Game 6. Both opportunities were wasted which now forces the worst case scenario – Game 7 back in St. Louis.
Though Ken Hitchcock sounds pretty happy about things.

“We’ve got Game 7 at home. It’s the best case scenario we could’ve hoped for.”
Letting the defending champs off the hook in two separate games, giving them all of the momentum and completely forgetting how to play defense is the best case scenario? Hitchcock is trying to say that prior to the series if you were told you would have a Game 7 at home to decide things, would you take it? Most would, but not if you point out that you had a 3-1 series lead prior to letting things get ugly.
There’s been some bizarre quotes and statements in this series. Alex Pietrangelo boasted that it would be fun to knock Chicago out in front of their own fans in Game 6, practically guaranteeing a win. Not the smartest quote considering the Blues’ recent history.
Game 7 is coming and it’s far from the best case scenario. For Ken Hitchcock, it’ll be the measuring stick used to determine if he coaches the Blues another day or if he’s fired for another failure.
