The Denver big man will make up to $12 million a season.
The Denver Nuggets and Kenneth Faried have reportedly agreed to a five-year, $60 million extension, according to Adrian Wojnarowski. The fifth year of the deal is partially guaranteed, meaning Faried will make at least $52 million.
Faried had always been seen as part of Denver’s long-term plans, but it was unclear how close both sides were on an agreement up until this point. Just last week, Charlie Yao of Roundball Mining Company, ESPN Truehoop’s Denver Nuggets affiliate, appeared on The Lottery Mafia podcast and discussed Faried’s extension. While it appeared likely a deal would get done, Charlie speculated it might take until after the season, when Faried would have been a restricted free-agent.
While just last season Faried was part of trade rumors with the Knicks, it seems the Nuggets are now fully on board with him as an integral part of their front court. Last season Faried averaged 13.6 points 8.6 rebounds per game, and his stock is at an all-time high after a successful outing with Team USA in the 2014 FIBA World Cup. Should he continue his good form this season the Nuggets could surprise the West in making a playoff push.
