A lot of money is being thrown around in free agency, but so far only DeMarre Carroll and Al-Faruq Aminu are changing teams. One of the guys some in Celtics Nation were hoping would at least listen to overtures to leave is Kevin Love.
Yeah, of course I’ve heard the free agency rumors. But at the end of the day, and after meeting with my teammates (it turns out pools are great meeting places) and with the front office, it was clear Cleveland was the place for me. We’re all on the same page and we’re all in. We have unfinished business and now it’s time to get back to work.
This is not a shock. In fact, this has always been the expectation. The Cavs are going to spend a ton of money to re-load their roster and make another run at a title. With Love and (eventually) LeBron back in the fold, they’ll lock up Tristan Thompson and add a few shooters and try to get back to the Finals again next year.
Update:
Kevin Love will accept a five-year, $110 million contract extension with the Cavs according to sources

I mentioned this possibility on Saturday
Also, Cleveland can offer a 5-year deal, which is a commitment Love has never gotten yet. And while I won’t call Love “injury prone,” random, unrelated injuries do seem to find him somehow, so the comfort of a 5th year might be extra appealing. If I’m handicapping this process, I’m putting Cleveland in the lead to re-sign
He didn’t test the market like I thought he would.
Hey, on the plus side… maybe both Love AND LaMarcus Aldridge pass on the Lakers.
