KG might return but won’t play on Friday

Looks like Kevin Garnett will be at Target Center on Friday night after
all. But if you waited all season to see his emotional return to
Minnesota for the first time since last summer’s trade, get there early
and don’t go to the bathroom.

Early indications are that Kevin Garnett will travel with the Celtics
to Minnesota tomorrow, according to coach Doc Rivers. Garnett will not
play, and, as he’s done the last five games, he is not expected to sit
on the Boston bench. Rivers said he would encourage Garnett to appear
on the court if the Timberwolves were honoring him with any kind of
ceremony.

Rivers said a decision will be made today on whether Garnett will attend tomorrow’s game in Minneapolis, although he won’t play.

Garnett has attended games in Orlando, Miami, and Cleveland during his
absence from the lineup, but has stayed in the locker room. If Garnett
does attend the game against the Timberwolves, Rivers said the only
time he would be on the floor is if his former franchise plans to honor
him. As of yesterday, the Timberwolves weren’t expected to have
anything extravagant planned for Garnett’s return.
