"This is not hockey, we're not even looking at that," said Kevin
Garnett. When reminded of the Bruins' fate, he again brushed it off.
"The Bruins are not the Celtics, the Celtics are not the Bruins. It's
apples and oranges."
Those freakin' Bruins are still haunting us even after their painful elimination. Chris Forsberg has some stats on teams leading series 3-0:
Sure, the Celtics are in a favorable position. In the 93 instances of an
NBA team leading a best-of-seven series 3-0, no team has ever
blown that lead. What's more, 57 of those teams swept and 27 more won in
five games (including Boston's opening-round triumph over the Miami
Heat). Only nine series have advanced to six games or more, including a
mere three Game 7s.
Needless to say, I like our chances.
On Page 2, Chris Mannix refuses to give the Celtics all the credit.
checked out and paid the bill on the '09-'10 season before they got to
Boston for Game 1. LeBron's elbow (up to nearly 12,200
followers on Twitter)
gave Boston an edge before the series and K.G.'s one-sided winning of
the matchup with Antawn Jamison sealed it.
The Heat had won 9 of 10 and 18 of their last 22 heading into the playoffs. Does that sound like a team that had 'checked out and paid the bill?' I'm also willing to bet their was at least one ESPN or SI analyst that picked the Heat to win that series.
Now to LeBron's elbow. Has he had surgery, yet? Oh wait, he's not having surgery. How did that elbow look in Game 3? Pretty damn good if you ask me.
Mannix has had a hard-on for this team all season and it's no surprise he's begrudgingly giving them credit during this epic playoff run.
