Kevin Garnett has been as responsible for this Celtics resurgence as anyone, so this is quite fitting. Rondo's been getting a lot of attention lately, and rightfully so, for his gaudy assist numbers… but are the Celtics in this position without Kevin Garnett as well?
KG has been named the Eastern Conference Player of the week. Here's a look at his week.
* April 10 @ Miami: Tallied 24 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two blocks in a 115-107 win over the Heat.
* April 11 vs. Atlanta: Posted 22 points, 12 rebounds, two assists and three steals in a 88-86 win over the Hawks.
* April 14 @ New Jersey: Tallied 21 points, 12 rebounds and three assists during a 94-82 win over the Nets.
Man, that is really one hell of a week. I hate to keep harping on it, but there was no way back in January to guess that this is what KG would look like now. Amazing turnaround. It'll be interesting to see how Doc uses KG over these last five games. If he can get away with resting him a little more, I'm sure he'll love to take that opportunity.
As Chris Forsberg notes, this is the 4th Player of the Week award for the Celtics. Paul Pierce has two, and Rajon Rondo has one.
